It houses many unique pieces of Canadiana as well as antique furniture, 19th century tools and books. Over the years, its original owners received many special guests and diplomats. The Grange was a coveted destination of those who were fortunate enough to be graced by the friendship of its original owners and their daughters. Today, The Grange is available to groups who seek a special location for a private gathering that is sure to bring results. Situated only 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa, The Grange is just far enough to be away from the bustle of the city and close enough to return at the end of the day.

Whether you are planning an executive retreat or a training session, you will find that The Grange’s facilities and surroundings will perfectly complement your business objectives. Surrounded by forest and right on the river shore, the property is private, secluded and only yours to enjoy. Its lawn is large enough to accommodate casual cocktails and discussions; it also has its own access to a dock and beach in a protected cove on the Gatineau river where the water is clean and refreshing for swimming. Indoors, you will find the natural décor of The Grange’s log architecture authentic and elegant comfortable décor. Enjoy an end-of-day drink in front of the wood-burning fireplace and see your party relax after a day of productive brainstorming.

Although there are many unique features that vie with our cuisine, our executive chef is sure to delight our guests with his unique presentation and delectable selection of food. Treat your company to fare from special sandwiches to a 5-course dinner or if you would rather prefer a more casual mood, select our delicious mechoui or barbecue. Ask us about our menu selection and our many options, all prepared and served by our professional and friendly staff.
OUTDOORS & SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Do you need to schedule play-time or down-time? Our staff can help you with your preparations matching the season. Indoors, The Grange is equipped with a Games Room with billiards and checkers among other group games. The Great Hall can accommodate a band or DJ for a great party of dancing on our huge hard wood floor. For those who would rather a more quiet time, the Library offers a wide range of titles sure to please the most demanding bookworm! Outdoors, aside from the beach on the property, there is a large soccer field as you approach The Grange. Group games can be organized on the premises. In the summer, guests may enjoy canoes and kayaking on river excursions. In the winter, we can organize guided snowshoe hikes. Please ask us for help and other creative ideas. Guided tours of the property can also be arranged. The land is actually home to 13 other log houses, some of which are inhabited. On site, you will also find an observatory which houses one of only two known installations of a camera obscura. (Ask us about arrangements to view.)
ONSITE ACCOMMODATION
If you need to send someone in a few days early to organize and prepare your meeting, you can book our cosy Cliff House. Cliff House is a self-contained rustic chalet with all modern amenities and is attached to The Grange for easy navigation to your meeting site. Ask us about rates.
GRANGE PROTOCOL
- Dress: Definitely casual. Women will want to wear flat shoes to best enjoy the grounds and their natural terrain. Being nearby the river, late afternoons and evenings can be chilly or damp and we recommend a woollen cover for those who like it warm! In the winter, we average temperatures about 5 degrees lower than in Ottawa and we also have more snow. If you are planning outdoor activities, please advise your guests to bring extra clothing.
- Parking: Buses and individual cars can be safely parked around the property. Please advise us on what you anticipate your parking needs will be.
- Child care: let us know if you would like to arrange childcare service.
- Music: The Grange has a concert-quality piano. We can also arrange for a DJ might you want to plan a party in the Great Hall.
- Photography: many find the site enchanting and will want to take lots of pictures. We welcome amateur photographers and encourage all of you to snap those memories. We ask that all photography remain for non-professional activities. Official Grange pictures can be obtained from our office. We would ask that your guests respect the privacy of the other inhabitants of the log houses as well as our neighbours.
